Internal and External Wells

In consultation with the I Ching, I was encouraged to develop and purify both the internal and external wells available to us for guidance. The external well we can partake of is something like the I Ching itself, or the Bible. But with the I Ching, if we consult it often and meditate on its truths, we will strengthen and purify ourselves and benefit from the wisdom in it.

Our internal well is our own good character, which we strengthen, purify, and develop and follow when faced with life’s decisions and in human interactions. The practice of tai chi chuan kung fu and qi gong goes a long way in developing the internal well. What seems to be mostly physical is integrated in our whole being and the well of character within us becomes strong.

Tai chi is a practice of gentleness, kindness, and compassion, coupled with justice, balance, and righteousness or right behavior. Integrity, modesty, simplicity…it’s all tied together.

There are times in our lives when we get led astray or are so overwhelmed with what needs to be done, or have become spiritually parched. So go to the well, and go often, externally and internally.
