Tai Chi Weight Loss

I have been asked if tai chi can be of some help as a weight loss program or in conjunction with one, and here are my thoughts. As a martial art and as a chi kung, tai chi works to promote the free flow of chi throughout the body, harmonize body systems, promote health of the internal organs. What I have found is that tai chi brings the body to a stasis, or balance, and the body begins to make more efficient use of the foods we eat.

In order for tai chi to be a significant contributor to weight loss, however, I think it has to be in conjunction with a total, healthy weight program, choosing healthier foods, exercising, and so on. Make no mistake about it, done correctly, tai chi chuan is a very demanding art. If you include standing post exercises, you will begin to notice stronger legs, arms, shoulders, and back.

When you practice tai chi seriously, you begin to learn more about yourself and your body and the practice itself will help lead you to making wiser decisions about your body.

If you haven’t heard it before, fruits especially, vegetables, nuts, berries, whole grains. I am not a vegetarian or vegan personally, but the above groups should take precedence. And green tea. And I will take this opportunity to reiterate my belief that Vitamin D has been the best kept secret revealed in the last few years.
