My Mission From God

“Lord, what whilst thou have me do?”

“Son, I want you to sell shoes.”

“What?”

“I want you to sell shoes.”

“Well, alright then, if that’s what you want. Who am I to question the ways of the Lord God Almighty.”

“God just told me to sell some shoes!”

(Don’t worry, I’m not losing my mind. Just having some fun.)

  1. It reminds me somewhat of Viktor Frankl’s book, Man’s Search for Meaning, which we read in high school. Having meaning, mission, goals, is a matter of survival.

  2. There are few things in life as psychologically healthy as having a mission. When there is a goal that needs to be reached, all of that other stuff (lethargy, depression, self-doubt, etc.) kind of falls away. Nice trio of posts you’ve written.
