UFC, IFL, Groundfighting, Knee Bars, and A Good Left Hook

Enjoyed watching some Ufc and IFL(international Fight League) fights last night. Man, brutal, fierce, and sometimes vicious, not in intent, but wicked! I love watching the techniques, especially the groundfighting, and how these guys twist each other up like pretzels and get the submission. I was very surpirsed that two of the fights last night were won with knee bars! Not knockouts, not fists, not chokes, knee bars! I am fortunate in that I have never been in a knee bar. It must hurt like hell to get guys to tap out in seconds. But the most devastating knockout was a counter punch, a good all american left hook to the face and chin, it made the guys\’s head rock left to right and back again, and it was lights out! Man, look out for the left hook–make sure you’re single whip and brush knee twist step is in top form if you’re going to use tai chi against these guys! Man, kudos to you mixed martial artists. I don’t subscribe to the idea of practitioners of one art putting down another, or claiming something is better than something else. Hard work and discipline in any art is a thing to be admired.

  1. Yes it is good to watch and I think sometimes very brutal. Wow you have to be fit for this game.

I agree with your point about idea of practitioners of one art putting down another, or claiming something is better than something else. Each of these arts have there own good points and benefits and to become fairly proficient requires hard work. Effectively they are all part of the martial art community but unfortunately as in all walks of life politics and egos abound.
