Autoerotic Asphyxiation; Off the Beaten Path

What a term, autoerotic asphyxiation. A nice way of saying choking yourself while jerking off. I’m sorry to be so crude. We have such opportunities to excel as human beings, to rise higher, to become holy, to recognize the sacred in life, and yet we give in so easily to the seductions in life that take us so far off the Way, off the beaten path to make another crude pun. What is it about us that drives us to do stupid things? What makes us so empty that we need to push the envelope to fulfill some need to have an even more erotic experience than the last time? Is it part of an addictive personality? Is it like the guy who finds out he has lung cancer and has to have the cigarette to deal with the news?

You know, it was in the news recently that a lot of middle school kids are playing the choking game, where they let each other choke them into unconsciousness. It’s such a dangerous game. What is it? Can somebody wake us up and tell us to just cut it out for f sake! We get so caught up in our secret little worlds and carry on our lives and we have no idea how much harm we are doing to ourselves.

I’m not a saint. I’m not judging. I’m just a bit flabbergasted by the whole thing. A little more holiness. A little more spirituality. A little more awareness of the good things in life. A little more being close to nature. A little more effort at purification. How broken is our psyche, how broken is the matrix we live in, that we allow ourselves to be seduced by the profane, that we buy into the seedy and perverse and write it off as just having fun or expressing ourselves. So lost. Where are the holy monks and masters who would clap their hands in our face and in a zen moment, enlighten us to the truth of life as opposed to the illusion we revel in? Wake up! Stop choking yourself to death! Let yourself breathe! Let yourself live!
