American Idol and the Tai Chi Life

Here’s a daydream exercise for you. What would you do if your day to day life were being judged as if it were American Idol? Ha! Not so much on your singing ability, but just on what you did today. What would the judges say, Yo, dog, says Randy, you were dead on when you got dressed today…Paula has a visceral response and begins crying when she sees you walk into starbucks to set up to blog…and Simon scowls, your tai chi form was a bit karaoke, not what I’m looking for as we get to the final top ten…Would you make the top ten today? Actually, I did laundry today, and I did it very well. Top ten? Not quite. Just part of my renaissance abilities to do a bit of everything…

I’m not thinking that we should live our lives as if it were always a competition, but a little self analysis goes a long way. How do you judge what you did with yourself today, yesterday. What pressures and anxieties did you succomb to. What ways did you stay true to proper principles? Did you practice tai chi today, mindfully, or thinking about all the other things you’ve got to do?
