Falling Down: A World View

If you accidentally fell off a very tall building, you’d pretty much probably react by screaming until you hit the ground and then that would be it. It’s an interesting side note that when we are born, we usually come into this world kicking and screaming. Are babies aware of something that we’ve forgotten?

Now imagine you accidentally fell off a really tall building, but this building is so tall it’s going to take you 80 to 90 years to fall all the way to the ground. What do you do? How do you spend your time. I don’t think you’d be terrified for 90 years straight. Maybe as you’re in the last year of falling, you might start to see a little terror, but mayhbe over time you’ve come to terms with the idea of splat. And maybe there is something beyond splat! Ha! What a concept, to think of this as falling and splat, and still needing to think about what’s beyond it. What’s beyond the splat!

Anyway, this isn’t my favorite metaphor because it is kind of fatalistic, but it came into my head the other day and I wanted to share it with you.
